Dr. Stasun received his Bachelors of Science at Western Reserve University. He graduated from the School of Dentistry at Case Western Reserve. After dental school Dr. Stasun joined the United States Public Health service with the rank of Captain. He had a one-year rotating dental internship, after which he was assigned to the Indian Health Service. For two years he was in charge of three Indian dental clinics, one on the rim, and another at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The third location was at Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California. Being the only dentist at the three Public Health facilities Dr. Stasun performed all aspects of dentistry from restorations and root canals to oral surgery including third molar extractions and the occasional broken jaw. The physician at the Peach Springs reservation would often call upon Dr. Stasun to suture facial wounds. He left the service as a Lt. Commander and attended the University of California in San Francisco for his orthodontic residency. After his residency he specialized exclusively in orthodontics.
Dr. Stasun is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the San Mateo County Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Stasun uses conventional orthodontic appliances (bands and brackets manufactured with precision tip and torque to his prescription for precise tooth movement) as well as lip bumpers, palatal expanders and various functional appliances that allow the patient’s own musculature to direct growth direction and tooth movement. Space-age Nickel-Titanium arch wires are used to apply a low continuous gentle force if teeth are badly rotated or out of position. Dr. Stasun does all wire adjustments and appliance placements himself. Dr. Stasun times treatment so that most patients need to be treated only once. Dr. Stasun is full-time in Half Moon Bay and sees patients 3 days a week. All radiographs, models, etc. are performed at his office: no going 'over the hill'. Whenever possible, we fit appointments to your schedule (before and after school, etc.). Treatment costs are divided over the length of treatment. Let us know your needs and we will work with you. No Interest is charged. We will work with and bill your insurance. Dr. Stasun can be contacted at his home, or via his cell phone in case of emergency. (Appropriate phone numbers are provided with first treatment).
